Recommendation: 'Department 19' by Will Hill.

Department 19 by Will Hill
Anyone who likes vampires will enjoy reading this one. The cover is deceiving and I found it an excellent read. It is definitely not as frightening as the Stephen King novels. However, when I was reading it, late at night, I got up and closed all my curtains in the house, just to make sure a vampire wasn't lurking in the shadows and peering in. It tells a story of the survivors of Dracula who haunt the land, committing many atrocities. The main character, Jamie Carpenter is a courageous young teenager. He joins Department 19 after his father was murdered and his mother taken by the most notorious vampire in the world. He battles to save his mother and free the world. Along the way, he develops a friendship with a girl who has herself fallen victim and has been turned. The chapters often jump back in the past as it describes Jamie's fathers life, how he came to be murdered and how it relates to solving the present problem. After reading this one, it definitely makes one more interested in exploring the legend of Count Dracula (Vlad the Impaler).
