Retro read: 'Stanley's aquarium' by Barry Faville

Stanley’s aquarium by Barry Faville
This little-known New Zealand book is worth hunting down.
Robbie takes on a weekend job mowing lawns – including Stanley’s.
Stanley’s quite odd. He breeds exotic fish in a shed. He talks of living in the jungle. And, he’s interested in Robbie – and not in a good way.
Robbie, meanwhile, has a growing relationship with Duncan to deal with, and all the complexities of friendships to negotiate.
Told in the first person, this is a thriller with strong characters and emotions, and a twist in the end as we learn the full extent of Stanley’s plan.
