Recommendation: 'The tides of avarice' by John Dahlgren

The BEST book I've read so far this month The tides of avarice: A Sagaria legend by John Dahlgren.

What's the book about?
'Blimey! It's something all pirates are taught when they're young, but too many of them forget: Never get on the wrong side of a librarian. Especially if the librarian is a lemming! Sylvester Lemmington used to read about cannibals, impenetrable jungles, voo doo magic, pirates and much more, but he never thought he'd encounter them for real. Can Sylvester save his sweetheart, Viola, her tough-as-nails mom and other friends he's acquired along the way. Sylvester receives a treasure map which the pirates want, and they will stop at nothing to get their map back.'-- Publisher's description.

My thoughts?
Definitely, definitely my favourite from this month’s reviews; I found The tides of avarice really entertaining. The story centres on Sylvester Lemmington, a quiet lemming librarian, his encounter with a bedraggled and wounded stranger, and his kidnap/escape from his hometown of Foxglove by a bunch of marauding pirates, on the hunt for some secret lost treasure. It is unashamedly an adventure fantasy novel, and for someone who’s not too keen on fantasy, I loved it. Dahlgrens’ book has an abundance of sprawling, brawling and loveable characters, mostly pirates, which make you want to curse to the three-breasted goddess and chase down the Zindar’s treasure with the rest of them. The main baddy is a charming and charismatic fox, Captain Rustbane, who you cannot help but like, despite the situation. So what is not to love about a book that centres around lemmings?! So cute!
