Introducing Siobhan Dowd

Siobhan Dowd had a brief, but glorious, writing career before her untimely death in 2007. Her passion was for assisting socially disadvantaged children improve their reading. During her life, she co-founded a programme to take authors into schools in such areas, as well as prisons and youth offenders’ institutions.

Her first novel was A swift pure cry, which was followed by The London Eye mystery. Two novels, Bog child and Solace of the road, were published after her death.

She had an idea for a book – but ran out of time to finish it. It was authored by her friend, Patrick Ness, and published as A monster calls.
